'What Does He Think He Is?': Chris Matthews Destroys Trump For Bringing His Sleazy Kids To London

‘What Does He Think He Is?’: Chris Matthews Destroys Trump For Bringing His Sleazy Kids To London

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews obliterated Donald Trump on Tuesday for bringing his children to London – even Tiffany – and forcing world leaders to “kiss the butt” of his family members.

“This is the second week in a row he’s been visiting with emperors and now he’s meeting with the Queen of England,” the MSNBC host said. “What does he think he is that he brings his family with him like a royal?”

Matthews openly wondered when members of the Republican Party are going to defend the republic from a man who is acting like an aspiring authoritarian leader.

“When is someone going to raise their hand and say, ‘I’m not going to kiss the butt – again – of one of your family members? I’m not going to do it.'”

Matthews said:

He also likes monarchs. This is the second week in a row he’s been visiting with emperors and now he’s meeting with the Queen of England. What does he think he is that he brings his family with him like a royal? … The president of the United States – he is head of state. A woman can be head of state, too. This is the way it works. You are elected the head of state. You’re not elected king. … The Republican Party is called the Republican Party, lower case. They believe in a republic, not a monarchy. When is someone going to raise their hand and say, ‘I’m not going to kiss the butt – again – of one of your family members? I’m not going to do it.’ Yet he insists that they do it.

Trump is “a walking emoluments clause violation”

As Jason Johnson, politics editor for The Root, told Chris Matthews on Tuesday, Donald Trump is “a walking emoluments clause violation.”

The president’s decision to bring his family along with him on his trip to London doesn’t just demonstrate – again – how Trump views himself and his children as American royalty, but it’s also the latest example of how he is using his political power to enrich himself and his family members.

After all, as Jill Colvin of the Associated Press pointed out on MSNBC, it’s particularly inappropriate that Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump were rubbing elbows with world leaders in London while simultaneously continuing to run the president’s business.

“These are people who run the president’s business, who are profiting from the Trump name,” Colbin said. “And to bring them along, to let them use the social media images of it just adds more and more questions about all of the ethical issues.”

Ultimately, Trump might see himself and his family as royalty, but what the world has again seen during his visit to London is that he’s nothing but a royal embarrassment.

If we're really brutally honest with ourselves, this whole family is laughing all the way to the bank, whether it's a bank in Switzerland or anywhere else. They keep on grifting and we the taxpayers are footing the bill. They're stashing their money somewhere offshore, not paying taxes on any of it, and are still scott free.

This whole coverage of the trip to London has made me more depressed about the situation we find ourselves in. The media is once again giving them all the air time they want while we poke fun on the internet and get our laughs, but we're still stuck with all of them. Nothing seems to touch them.

He sees them as receiving constant adulation, being ultra rich, and with largely ceremonial duties that allows them to do mostly whatever they want (like his frequent golf trips and executive time). Plus, they’re royals for life—just as Trump wants to be president for life and then hand the presidency to Ivanka, his favorite incompetent offspring.

In addition to the inappropriateness of his children traveling with him, how about the number of administration people who were there? Why were Kellyanne Conway and Sarah Sanders there? And Mnuchin? Trump was meeting with a prime minister with no power to craft deals at a time when the whole country can’t negotiate deals because they don’t know whether they’ll still be in the EU.

This was all an utter waste of taxpayer money just so Trump could show that he is able to rub elbows with royalty. What a disgusting piece of trash he is.

I don't think she'll be handling too many press conferences on this trip. Not that she does it in Washington either. This is Trump's way to pay back his loyal butt-kissers, the people who will lie and cover up his crimes for him. All on the taxpayers' dime.

Like a family of grifters, the Trumps are reminiscent of the Beverly Hillbillies.

Queen Elizabeth II formally invited just President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump to travel to London for an official State Banquet at Buckingham Palace. But the event became more of an extended family affair, with Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and his wife Lara, and Tiffany Trump all joining the exclusive party.

tRump show. tRump is destroying all respect the USA has ever had worldwide. The fact that he is a know-nothing blowhard makes it that much worse. He makes Americans look like losers, who would elect a stupid, wanna-be dictator into the highest office in the country. The US reputation as a world leader is going down the sewer daily, with this total disaster of a president in office. Putin knew it would happen, in fact MADE it happen. The gop should all be voted out for helping destroy this country, instead of doing the jobs they were elected to do. I am beyond disgusted. There are people in this country who believe having an incompetent, failure of a white man in the WH beats having a classy, highly intelligent, highly respected worldwide black man in the WH. Just how bloody stupid ARE the republican voters?

to snubbing someone, and in terms of total snobbery NO ONE CAN EVER beat the Royal Family. And I'm not saying that in a pejorative way, either. That's just how they are because that is how the society is constructed.

What was so amusing to me is that pic of Ivanka looking out that window after getting locked out of the throne room. See what I mean? This was absolutely elegant on the part of the Royals. They managed to make their displeasure with Trump known in a subtle, but quite embarrassing way.

but if I were in charge of things, I would have found it hilariously funny to set up a separate table in a side room for the Trump children and their spouses.

Being relegated to the "kiddie table" is a very old American Thanksgiving Holiday tradition. They would have known it and watching Americans would have known it, even if it wasn't apparent to the British people. And if it was, so much the better!
