(25,894 posts)And why I believe we should be confiscating guns. Don't give me any crap about the second amendment. Just remind me why anyone's life is worth more than a gun. Oh, and while you're at it, tell me in detail why the life of your son, or mother, or sister, or any other relative at all, is worth sacrificing to gun ownership. Really? Those lives are worth sacrificing? Ok, maybe for you they are not, but for me they aren't.

(2,275 posts)The NRA has issued 100 proclamations about the right to bare arms for every squeaky reminder that we also must REGULATE the stupid, dangerous and ass backwards technology.
Oh, and today's tech are no longer muskets so NONE of it is protected by the US Constitution.
People! Think everything through.

(25,894 posts)I think you and I are pretty much on the same page.
I am heartily sick of people pussy-footing around this issue. Guns are wrong. Guns kill people. Allowing unregulated guns means people die. Doesn't anyone really notice that countries with strong regulations against guns don't have mass shootings? Doesn't anyone ever ask why that is the case? Don't you notice that Australia and recently New Zealand enacted strong gun control laws after a mass shooting? And no more mass shootings have occurred? Coincidence? Really?
I am seriously considering leaving this country, not because of our current idiot President, but because of mass murder with guns.

(2,275 posts)2nd Amendment
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
It's full of grammatical and logical holes and not only wide open to interpretation, it opens with the assumption that the arms policy is to ensure a well regulated militia and produce security and freedom. We have no such regulation, we have no security in our schools, houses of worship and other public spaces, and we do not enjoy the freedom to go almost anywhere or even to soeak our minds for fesr of being shot.
So it can be argued that what follows is absurd and not a right.
It also does not define "arms". That is a completely arbitrary decision wherein on any given decade we have drawn the line somewhere between a musket and a nuclear bomb.
All we need is to insist that every goddamn fucking American start thinking about important things that, oooh, politics thing. Don't let them hide. Insist that they become adults already.
