When would it be too late to impeach?

Is it ever too late?

If a president is found to have committed a crime, such as money-laundering, even one day before the next election, we would have a duty and responsibility to impeach.

After all, he is still president for two and a half months after the next election.

We do not know what might happen in the future? Will someone stand up and tell the truth? Will there be a whistle-blower? Will more evidence be uncovered? We don't know?

But, with the evidence we already have, investigations must remain open.

In my opinion, the official line for the Democratic Party should be, that the investigations will continue.

According to others, we are losing support already and the time to strike was right after the Mueller report came out.

IMHO these are both lame excuses.

He'll tell us you can't impeach a president in the last year of his term, just like you can't confirm a Supreme Court justice in the last year of a president's term. It's a Senate tradition, don't you know?

But, it really depends on who's president, a Republican or a Democrat. Democratic presidents can be impeached in their last year, and Supreme Court nominees can be confirmed in the last year of a Republican president's term.

Not just to impeach, but to save democracy. The month of June is enough time to establish the ongoing obstruction and cover up from this administration from the withholding of documents and defying subpeonas.

Congress should not wait past July, despite any ongoing court challenges/appeals. If the Trump administration continues to obstruct Congressional investigations, they should open a "shock and awe" impeachment inquiry for Barr, Mnuchin, and Trump. Shifting to a formal impeachment inquiry will shift the narrative and garner intense media focus that can't be distracted with a tweet.

Opening the inquiry in the summer also gives some breathing room to the candidates on the trail, and to the rest of congress who can show they can legislate, campaign and impeach all at the same time. Once the primaries begin, there may not be as much breathing room.
