Rep. Steve Chabot thinks lying only matters if you put your hand on a Bible first.

Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH) did not just vote to impeach President Bill Clinton for perjury and obstruction of justice in 1998; he was one of the House Managers who unsuccessfully prosecuted the case before the United States Senate.
Now in his 12th term in the House, Chabot does not believe President Donald Trump should be impeached. His reasoning: Trumps lies dont matter because they were not under oath.
In an interview with The Atlantic this week, Chabot said he stands by his efforts to impeach Clinton. I do stand by it, he sad. I think he did commit an impeachable offense thats why I voted that way.
But despite the 10 instances of possible obstruction involving Trump, documented in special counsel Robert Muellers final report, Chabot said that the sees no reason to impeach the current president because Trump did not swear to tell the truth and because Mueller did not expressly tell Congress to impeach.

(18,486 posts)We're all looking forward to seeing you support impeaching Trump for obstruction of justice - just as you thought Clinton should be impeached for it, even though he didn't put his hand on the Bible before you say he engaged in it - or to hearing your sorry excuse for not doing so.

(6,360 posts)Hes in a well gerrymandered district. Lost a couple terms ago to a dem and when we lost two seats, recapturing his west side district was the #1 priority.
So...Steve aint going anywhere until a younger, more insane R runs, he dies, or the districts get redrawn by court order sin the R gov (DeWine) would like to screen out anyone not voting R.
