It was the ReTHUG House that held this up.
Dems have moved quickly on this one.

(8,361 posts)The liars, con artists, phony patriots, they can go to hell. GOP are a bunch of sleazeballs.
There are twenty two thousand victims thus far, this kind if war on terror they want nothing to do with. There are no subsidies coming back their way, no graft.
Fuck them.

(18,486 posts)As was his anger that every subcommittee member didn't sit through the entire hearing. He knows - or should know - that several hearings are scheduled at the same time and Members often have to hopscotch between them. Did he think they were supposed to ignore their other hearings - with other witnesses, many of whom care as much about their issue as he does about his - so that they could all be at his hearing gavel to gavel?

(51,559 posts)It was the GOP who insisted on there being an expiration date, so that these poor, cancer-ridden walking skeletons have to keep dragging themselves to Congress to keep begging for extensions on the money.
But I get why he said it that way. If he put blame where it belonged, namely the GOP instead of "Congress," the GOP would claim it was a partisan attack, and they would be less likely to extend the funding.
Jon gave the GOP a face saving out: extend the money and blame the delays on the Dems. I guess that's the only way to get these poor first responders their money.
