(6,974 posts)Nope, and especially if even if the Dems are fortunate to win the presidency he could say that HIS AG said that Dems got help to win the presidency in 2020 (That's what he's saying NOW anyway about 2016, even though everybody knows it a damn lie because Hillary was the one cheated out of the presidency), and that he's got NO choice but to NOT recognize a Dem presidency in 2020, thus appointing himself the commander-in-chief. Like he wouldn't do it again, because we all saw him ADMIT that he'd take information from a hostile country on Dems and run with it, and that no one could stop him because his FBI is weak, feckless and a bunch of liars.
Before you may possibly laugh at this scenario, think about this:
1) WHOSE going to stop him from reclaiming a presidency that he'd say was stolen from HIM per his AG who won't show anybody the so-called 'evidence' of this event/coup? Would Barr? McTurtle? Pence? Robbedme (Romney) stop fatso? Would ANYBODY in that treasonous, lawless, rich, elitist mostly white, racist male party of his stop him? There are NO guardrails or statesmen left in that faux party of theirs. And, the only person trying to speak up against him, Justin Amash, is going to be taken down a peg and in an extremely nasty way. And before you say that his district just might vote overwhelmingly to keep him as their representative, what if the ruskies interfered with the voting in Justin's district? We don't know WHAT the ruskies have in store for the USA as an encore as it relates to interfering into our GE in 2020 do we?
2)Corporate media hacks like Chuck 'Dems are in complete disarray' Toad or Andrea 'But her emails' Greenspan would LOVE the sheer audacity and lawlessness of a tRump move like that and more so than that the RATINGS they'd get

(14,491 posts)relating the massive amount of criminal and non-presidential behavior (emollients, security risks, signs of mental illness, etc.) amassed to date to go into the Congressional Record. Trump and the GOP will forever have that hanging around their necks.
Sworn testimony will be far more difficult to refute by the GOP during the upcoming campaign deluge....
I feel more strongly each day that this move is the sworn Constitutional duty of our legislators to uphold our system of laws and norms, and that duty should not be seen as something needing a polling of constituents.
Constituents elected these representatives to uphold the law, so that established a mandate.
This is not a re-vote of the 2016 presidential election......

(19,956 posts)issues, not least access to Trump's tax Returns. There are a whole host of things in motion currently, and while i understand everyone's frustration, rushing headlong into an impeachment inquiry where Trump/Barr will continue to slow walk witnesses/evidence, will do little for Democrats. Calling an impeachment inquiry now, is not a panacea.
