(16,786 posts)If history teaches us anything that the Empire of Persia, modern day Iran, is not some cut and dry case. Not even the 300 Spartans could defeat the mighty Xerxes. But a year later, a UNITED Greece did.
Iran has a sophisticated Military that is furnished by Russia. They have computer skills, scientists, etc. who were trained by Russia. A war with Iran would result in American casualties unseen since Vietnam. Israel may come to our aid, but no one else would. Saudi Arabia is not ready for a full out scaled war against a neighbor. Not to mention the instability of the region for generations to come.

Chernobyl and surrounding areas of Russia are still feeling those affects.
