Speaker Nancy Pelosi is correct

She and the rest of Dems are educating the population on what has been going on since the vast majority of citizens have not been paying attention.

Slowly it is building. Never forget, it is government of the people.
The people have to wake up. Slowly people are paying attention. It is the people who have to demand impeachment. This has never been a sprint, this is a marathon and justice is coming and soon.

I'm not sure that the networks as a whole would be receptive to the idea after the Dan Rather fall out. It would most certainly end in lawsuits and Trump would seek an injunction to prevent airing in the first place.

Ask for the American people as a whole... Democrats would support the effort as would many left-leaning independents. Those on the right would flip their lids and other Independents would be suspicious and could push them to stay home or back Trump.

I do believe all in all it could have a positive effect and push more American citizens toward supporting impeachment but I just don't see the media allowing it to happen. This is different from Ross Perot paying the networks to air his campaign special. This is taking down a president even though he has abandoned his oath of office and committed crimes against the United States

and I have no illusions about the Senate actually trying the president for his crimes.
We are selling this to the American people.
They are the judge and jury in this case.
It's about truth being brought into the light of day and the president being judged by the citizens.
I don't care if it goes into next year.
The truth must be presented to the people in the most clear, concise, and complete manner.
The election will be the jury process.
All those who supported and protected Trump are at risk if the whole truth is given its place in the Sun.
That is what we need to focus on.
If the Senate refuses to hear the case, or if it never even gets there is not as important as that the real trial proceeds in the court of the American People.
Let the votes decide, but with a fully informed public pulling the levers.

Let the impeachment hearings begin soon!

Thu Jun 13, 2019, 08:40 PM
Jun 2019

But then what if we never make it to the elections? Or if we have a repeat of 2016? We will have waited too long. You might want to take that chance, but right now, overwhelming evidence shows the total corruption of this administration. Are you willing to take that chance when hearings would add information that MANY Americans aren't aware of?

It's nice to have the confidence that nothing worse is going to happen (which is the wait and see attitude). There may even be an afterlife, too (Factual jury is still out on that). We've already seen camps, ignored laws, rampant corruption...but let's wait longer. Maybe things will be ok without letting Americans in on the BS.

I'm not willing to wait with all the evidence out there RIGHT NOW.. I'd rather take a chance on public hearings and let the people know what a dictatorship they have rather than losing in 2020 and NEVER getting that information out. I'm not planning on spending my life in a box car or 6x9 cell.

Besides, the Republican controlled Senate is not going to pass anything the house wants anyway. So why worry what the people think?

about trump's crimes. Not many Americans follow politics as closely as we do, and this is an especially complicated case. The Mueller report is a very dense document and really needs clarification.

I know Rob Reiner has a documentary coming out explaining what the report says. That's a good first step. But I would like to see the Democrats be more proactive about informing the public about what's been going on.

If so, do we have the votes?

And can someone tell me when the courts are expected to rule on the subpoenas for trump's financial records? It's a huge problem that thus far the white house has refused to turn over a single piece of information requested by the House.

Oral arguments in the financial records case are scheduled for July 12 and since the court put this case on an accelerated calendar - meaning they're giving it high priority and plan to move it quickly - they should issue a ruling shortly thereafter.

I think she's working internally to build the votes she needs to pass an impeachment resolution and is purposely drawing the fire away from the recalcitrant Members to give them time to get where they need to be. A big part of this is to build public awareness and support, which will pressure those Members.

Ans favorable rulings in these pending cases will help considerably - both to show that Trump's obstructionism has no legal basis, but also to get information needed to build the case against him.

But I don't think the timing of these pending cases is the reason she's waiting. If she had the votes, I'm sure she'd move forward. But the additional evidence will definitely help make the case the public needs to see before they'll support impeachment.

One of my frustrations is seeing people expend so much time and energy bashing Pelosi when they should be directing their efforts toward educating other people and, together, pressing their Member of Congress to support impeachment. Complaining to and about Pelosi is a waste of time since she's not the impediment - although it is interesting to see people insist that she's all powerful and if she just says she wants to impeach now, 170 or so Members of Congress from disparate districts around the country will just fall into line behind her. She wishes she had that kind of swag.
