(22,156 posts)since I've retired, I've paid for everything, don't really have any bills to speak of (the small utility bills), not interested in traveling, downsized to a smaller home (so happy too), and am putting more into savings than I did when I was working. Go figure.
It does seem like everything keeps going up, and this president's idiotic actions on Iran, the tariffs, Mexico BS, etc. isn't helping one bit. Not one bit. The cost of everything is creeping up because of the 'uncertainty' factor (businesses get worried about reliable supply chains, distribution costs, etc. (higher insurance costs, etc.)). So anything we've all gained in increases in our income are long gone, except, funny enough, Jared, rump, and their other crooked cronies.
Also, thank you for posting!!

(10,197 posts)Factory work was always awful but it paid a better than a living wage if you stayed long enough. Now, even the handful of manufactoring jobs out there pay minimum wage to start.
And huge monopolistic corporations fill every niche of every market so that you can't start your own business without competing with a bohemith sized corporate monopoly........even farming. Essential to life needs are turned into profit centers for some rich heiress or capitalist king sucking out the wealth of local communities.
And who got bailed out after the crash? It wasn't the majority of the American people. It wasn't even a 10th of the people. But hey, Occupy and Acorn were killed off for daring to point this out.
