Blockbuster story buried in this NYT report. Pentagon, intelligence officials fear they cannot trust Trump enough to brief him fully on new US cyber operation against Russia for fear he will "countermand it or discuss it with foreign officials" as he did before with Russians.

Anyone who deals with classified information can sure as hell keep a secret.

It's not just "Trump v. underlings who try to limit him"; he gets help from some of them too, for one reason or another.

(53,410 posts)Why would they tell a newspaper? It doesnt make sense. It might be a case of a deliberate fake report. But that also doesnt make sense.
But, nevertheless, I hope its true. Maybe they take their oath to follow and protect the Constitution to heart.

this is why people like jeff flake and bob corker left. they would have lost in a primary for not supporting trump .

(9,426 posts)as soon as fat Donnie floated down his golden escalator with his trophy escort wife. It was all downhill from there. Maybe going DOWN the escalator was a metaphor for what the future would bring? Certainly it is beyond most peoples imagination. The gop will put Devin Nunes, or Lindsey Graham on to that immediately. They are well versed at shading lard ass Don the Con. Honor and integrity be damned. They have no place in today's gop.

(56,829 posts)I'm in my early 50s and growing up, the Pentagon and military in general were thought of as fairly conservative organizations. To not inform Donny Dollhands of something like this is something that I'm sure they don't take lightly.

(11,523 posts)Of course it's telling that the President* can't be trusted not to blab state secrets to our fiercest competitor on the international stage. This certainly is understandable given the history of tRump, his children, and Kushner to run their mouths in front of anyone who could potentially provide them with a source of personal profits.
HOWEVER, I for one don't want a military that's running around doing what the hell ever it chooses with no oversight. Look up the MKUltra project to see just how sickening things can get.
I also find it appalling that we're attacking the power grid of a foreign country, even Russia. This will only prompt them to up the ante and hit back at us in a bigger way. We don't need a cyber arms race, the money, time, and effort spent doing this should have been directed at safeguarding our elections.
