President Donald Trump attempted to cite Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) to put down talk of impeachment, but the progressive lawmaker quickly responded Ill call your bluff any day of the week.

Trump tweeted out a partial quote from AOCs interview with ABCs Jonathan Karl Sunday morning, using it to argue against impeachment.
Her full quote was I think that we have a very real risk of losing the presidency to Donald Trump if we do not have a presidential candidate that is fighting for true transformational change in the lives of working people in the United States.
Ocasio-Cortez herself later responded directly to the president via his favored medium.

(57,112 posts)she young and developing. I also think she's the real deal. I can't wait till she gets her feet and some experience, she will be a force to reckon with. She hasn't made any "rookie" mistakes and she hasn't allowed herself to be trolled into any missteps, yet. She's still new but there's something more there than someone who hasn't had enough time or opportunity to mess up. She's got smarts, soul and a lot of grit.

(32,640 posts)Getting into twitter wars with journalists who fact check her statements is one of them.
She will need to grow a much thicker skin if she intends to last as long as Pelosi.
When you say "effective speaking in Congress" how do you define "effective?"

(57,112 posts)was speaking truth to power as a freshman and doing it effectively. I don't care if she becomes speaker or POTUS (its toooooo soon), but let's put it on the level we're on: she has the makings of a good Congressman.
I am not a partisan. I do want the best Democratic Congress we can get. Not represented by my abysmal GOP Congressman and Senators. Williams, Cornyn and Cruz.

(32,640 posts)I guess I still don't know what you mean when you say she speaks "effectively."
If someone does their job 'effectively' that means that there are measures of success that they met, results obtained.
What are the results that you have seen that makes AOC's speaking truth to power 'effective?" What has "power" done in response?
"Not boilerplate" means that she doesn't speak in a typical manner? What would you say is 'boilerplate?"
"Not doing a series of sound bytes" I see many of those as memes with her photo on FB.

(57,112 posts)There's plenty more. She is engaged and informed.

(32,640 posts)Not clear on what the results are that you say make her "effective" at speaking truth to power. If it's that there is lots of video of her speaking, then you could say that about most others in Congress. There are many who speak out against the Trump administration, corruption, and income inequality, both outside and inside of congress.
If you mean by effective, she gets you to like what she says, then that is a metric. You just need to acknowledge that.
Also, not seeing what you mean by "boiler plate." Can you define that?
