With re-election on the line, Trump's poll numbers are full of warning signs

WASHINGTON — As he formally kicks off his re-election bid Tuesday in Florida, President Trump faces some grim numbers.

His approval rating in the new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll stands at 44 percent among all Americans — well below the safe zone for any president.

Fifty-two percent of all voters say they are “very uncomfortable” about voting for him in 2020, according to the same poll. And Trump’s own internal polls have him trailing Joe Biden in Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin — and even Georgia, Iowa, North Carolina and Ohio.

The good news for Trump is that a lot can change with more than 500 days (!!!) until Election Day 2020.

His strategy will be the same as it was with Hillary, he got people to rule out Hillary because he effectively painted her as the devil incarnate. If it is Biden, he will paint Biden as an evil threat to America. Trump doesn't care if voters like him, he just needs about 5% of them to be scared of Joe Biden.

I've shared this story many times on here, but I had a co-worker that sat across from me that was on the phone a good part of the day as part of his job. In 2004 in the summer, he would answer his phone by saying "Bush is (terrible, bad, horrible), vote for Kerry" (not very professional for an engineer, or anybody in a business, but that's what he did)

But, the day after the election, I overhead him talking with several co-workers and they all admitted they voted Bush because they were scared of Kerry. None of them really liked Bush, but still still voted Bush. (OK, a few of them didn't like Bush because he was too liberal and too nice, but maybe they vote Libertarian or stay home instead of voting Bush?)
