...That was one of the security precautions set up after the 2016 election-night hack. I forget the frequency; once a month maybe? Longer? But still, part of the new normal after the hack.

I have never been asked to "log in" in order to read the comments on my own OP.

I have never seen any DU OP only partially displayed, with a link to "read more" being displayed halfway through its content.

If no one else is seeing this, I can only assume that its my account that's been hacked. I have changed my DU password accordingly.

to me for over a year before. I had to reenter my password (glad I remembered where I saved it) and I couldn't log into my own posts and I couldn't even say I liked a fellow DUer's post without reentering the password. I didn't try posting my own OP so I don't know if I would've experienced the same that you did.

Check the URL you're at closely. Is it what it's supposed to be?

Some years back I picked up some unwanted-ware and found web browsing filtered through a site I didn't recognize. I was able to figure out where I picked it up (a browser add-on} and after a search found what I needed to get rid of it.

The particulars of that case don't match with yours, precisely, but it's probably worth checking if your own computer has picked up something unwanted.

my username and password is filled in auto
and I'm back in...

being shuttled to another site is sketchy tho, for sure...

Or VDSL, your IP address will change periodically and you will need to re-log in to DU. I don't think there is anything to worry about.

Because loading all the replies may take longer, the URL for the title goers to the form that just shows the OP and the titles of all the replies in their tree; and you get a 'View All' option that uses the 'all in one' format. This mattered more when a lot of people's internet connections were slower, but it's still around.

I have the Chrome browser and it randomly decides - on its own without asking me - to log me out of everything and that includes DU where I spend half my life. I finally realized that it isn't DU that's doing it, it's my Chrome browser. So luckily Chrome also "remembers" all of my user IDs and passwords, and it supplies them whenever I need them.

If I were to turn off the "remember my passwords" mode on Chrome, I would be shit-out-of-luck.
