The heat wave in Europe

A potentially deadly heatwave - caused by a plume of hot air from the Sahara, according to meteorologists - has already caused a rush on fans and the cancellation of exams for some teenagers in France.

But with experts suggesting France, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium could set new temperature records for June in the coming days, it looks likely it will get hotter still.

Jamaica is in the middle of a sizzling hot spell during which temperatures have soared to record levels. In fact, the days have become so stiflingly muggy that a healthy individual would flirt with heat stroke if they don't remain properly hydrated.

And on Saturday, the mercury in the capital hit a sizzling 39.1 degrees Celsius - the highest temperature ever recorded in Kingston.

The Met Office confirmed that temperatures, especially those in Kingston, have reached new sweltering heights.

Here where I live it stays about 10 degrees cooler. Still pretty freaking hot.
The swamp cooler works well and I try to get my outdoor chores done early.
Then I bask in the coolth.
