I grew up on the Andy Griffith Show. I learned some lessons about people and morals from the show. What lovable characters.
But they were not exactly the most diverse lot, were they? Other than Merriwether with an accent, and then of course those girls from Mt. Pilot, they were a pretty tight bunch.
I just got to wondering. Were the people I was looking up to every week in the Sixties the people that I would today look at as MAGAts?
Would Barney be marching around in khakis and polo waving a Tiki torch?

This is completely different and troubled.
Back then we hated Nazis. Trump now, embraces them. Putin is a Nazi now.

We already know which side of the political fence Opie landed on, and it wasn't MAGA.
Goober Pyle was definitely a MAGA deplorable.

And did Otis vote for Hillary? How about Emmett? He seems classic sheeple. And Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! Gomer doesn't strike me as a political sophisticate.
