FBI warns of possible terrorism on July 4th -- domestic terrorism

The enemy within. Don't wear your MAGA hats too tight, Trumpers!

Federal authorities are warning that white supremacists and other political radicals could look to attack Independence Day revelers on July 4, noting in a bulletin to law enforcement around the country that domestic terrorists “have attacked perceived oppressors, opponents, or enemies engaged in outdoor First Amendment-protected rallies or protests during past summers.”

The warning came in a joint intelligence bulletin issued by the FBI, Department of Homeland Security and National Counterterrorism Center, urging law enforcement personnel to remain vigilant for suspicious activity.

Such bulletins are routinely distributed in the days before a major national holiday, but previous bulletins have often focused on “homegrown” terrorists inspired by overseas groups like ISIS or al-Qaeda rather than “domestic” terrorists radicalized by domestic issues such as abortion or white supremacy.

“The FBI, DHS, and NCTC remain concerned that [they] could target upcoming Independence Day celebrations, gatherings, or parades, though we are unaware of any current plots specifically targeting such events,” stated the bulletin, obtained by ABC News. “We note that attacks can occur with little to no warning because of the frequently lower levels of security around civilian targets, challenges in securing large crowds, and calls for attacks against soft targets.”

a warning approved by the latest rump appointed Director?

I always avoid the crowds on holidays. For those holding entertainment venues on the 4th in DC, it would be wise to arrange for private security to look for, report and get local police back up in needed.

are they trying to tell us that the shitler's party will be attacked (perhaps in a calculated enterprise) so we can have anational emergency?

Wherever you go this coming Holiday weekend, be vigilant and aware of your surroundings when in large crowds.

I recall that in 1976, our nation's Bicentennial, a lot of people were absolutely convinced that there would be massive disruptions of the celebrations of the anniversary.

I was living in the DC area at the time, and had decided I was going to go down to the Mall to watch the fireworks that night. I worked at DCA at the time, a day shift, so I got off work at 4:30pm. I'd told my older brother my plans, and he initially scoffed saying there was no way he was going to risk going to the Mall that day. I simply told him I'd be there and he could do what he liked. A week or so before the 4th he'd reconsidered and planned on going.

We rendezvoused at the Washington Monument about 5 or 5:30, watched the fireworks, and then went our separate ways.

July 4, 1976 was absolutely amazing. There was an atmosphere I've only experienced one or two other occasions in my lifetime. Which is why despite nonsense like what's referenced in the OP I don't believe it. Okay, so I could be wrong but I'd like to point out that our intelligence services never get this stuff right.

Oh, and planning ahead, I'm going to be in DC on July 4, 2026 for our 250th. I will be the gray-haired lady telling every single person I meet that I was there 50 years ago. I can hardly wait.
