huge corporations use for the products they deliver or what not. The employees often walk more than 15 miles a day in those monster warehouses. They hold computerized wands that direct them where to go. And they get timed. If they are too slow picking up items to ship they get fired. They showed some corporate propaganda. On and on. Bad stuff.

the books and articles have pretty much dried up.

I've been wondering just how many of the "I'll never shop at WalMart" crowd are Amazon Prime members.

But much of what they said such as Bezo's net worth was not up to date. Remember he lost about half of it in his divorce.

she ordered "tulip-shaped cupcake liners" on Saturday night, they arrived on Sunday. why? she wanted to make cupcakes "for her girls" at work.

then she didn't. "they came too late" - around 3 pm.

They all but whip you to get higher numbers. I worked in a FC for around 2 years, and it's something that simply isn't sustainable for most workers. Packing is generally easier than picking because at least you don't need to run around the picking mezzanine all day long. So long as you can pack the required amount of items per hour into boxes you'll stay out of trouble. Picking is literally hell though, you need to rush around like a madman through the mezzanine to get your numbers, and compete with the other pickers for the 'good sections' with a lot of easy to grab items close together. Then you get to the 'slow times' of the year, and there aren't enough orders for all the pickers to meet their numbers anymore, so they just fire those who don't make the cut even though it's not really their fault. Then the holidays come back and they hire a bunch of temps to refill their staff.

Never again, that's all I'll say about FC work. They basically just hire people and grind them down over a year or two until they quit or get fired for being unable to continue at the required frenzied pace.
