Hasn't Rmoney made a few comments about the evil Russia too? They can not only see Putins house from their back porches, they are seeing it from the past.

Not a dubious source in a language few here can read.

Without that, your OP is rubbish. I am sorry about that. Nothing personal.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Our country and its way of life have enemies
both abroad and within our shores. We affirm the
need for our military to protect the nation by finding
and capturing our enemies and the necessity for the
President to have the tools to deal with these threats....

....
some of the gravest threats to our national security
this country has faced, including the proliferation of
transnational terrorism, continued belligerence by a
nuclear-armed North Korea, an Iran in pursuit of nuclear
weapons, rising Chinese hegemony in the Asia
Pacific region, Russian activism, and threats from
cyber espionage and terrorism. I

.....A strong and effective strategic arsenal is still
necessary as a deterrent against competitors like Russia
or China.

TAMPA - Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney was right when he called Russia America's "No. 1 geopolitical foe" and a Romney administration would confront Moscow on its poor record on democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, two top foreign-policy advisors to the GOP candidate said Tuesday.

Republicans and Romney are really insane to claim that "Russia is America's #1 geopolitical foe."

First of all, Russia is not a foe at all. Second, how can you consider Russia more of a problem for the US than North Korea, or Iran?

I'll say this for Republicans, they know how to create enemies where they didn't exist before. At that, Republicans are the globally acknowledged experts.

The idea of Russia not being an enemy is disturbing to them while the thought of a Russian nuclear attack is nostalgic.

only a madman or a racist may call the Russian enemies of Americans .Hitler called all the Russian enemies of Germany only after the outbreak of war with Russia, and what will happen now? The Americans and the Russians will be killing each other?

Sadly, yes, the latter is quite possible......though it probably won't be like the original, which is good in many ways, as full-blown atomic war isn't really all that likely, even if China implodes or when the oil runs out.....even so, I do worry about proxy groups getting their hands on a few nukes. Now that IS scary.....

remembering the "Canadian Bacon"
Old trick - to distract people's attention from the problems in the country artificially creating an image of an external enemy and encouraging militaristic hysteria in the country.

North Korea is more of a nuisance right now. Don't like the government but not really a whole lot we can do.

With China, I don't like what their government does to their people. And I think they do pose a cyber-threat. But overall, they can't really do much even if they wanted to considering our economies are so linked. Their military does not like us. But the government tends to keep a lid on that.

Russia has become capitalist but the government is flooded with corruption at every level. But Russia doesn't pose much of a national security threat to the United States. They are not going to shoot nukes at us. Their military is outdated. And the only things they are interested in is their old sphere of influence especially in the old Soviet republics. They only get mad at us when we (or NATO) stick our nose into those countries.

Iran though potentially poses a very, very serious problem. This is really as of right now, the only thing that has the potential to boil over in the near future and start a very serious regional war. Syria is an issue too, but right now that's an internal civil war.

what could be the external threats to the country with a military budget larger than the military budgets of all countries of the world combined?
