http://www.poynter.org/latest-news/top-stories/186894/brzezinski-somewhere-over-the-years-the-news-media-got-lost-and-forgot-what-news-was/... Morning Joe got some negative publicity this week after guest Chris Matthews started a shouting match with Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus during a roundtable discussion on Mondays show.
... Brzezinksi and Scarborough said that Mondays show hit a pothole.
... Scarborough said he was upset that Morning Joe wasted five minutes of the audiences time during Matthews outburst by doing absolutely nothing to illuminate the conversation.
We love Chris, Chris loves us, Chris comes on the show all the time, and we want him back again, Scarborough said. Nevertheless, he doesnt support political outbursts like Matthews.
If people come on our show and do that, theyre not going to come back on our show until were certain theyre not going to do it, Scarborough said. The problem is, that people who do that, whether its on cable TV or online they are rewarded by either the extremists on the far right or the far left.

(21,078 posts)Chris received congratulating him on being an honest-to-God journalist. It was the most interesting MJ show in ages. Thank you again Chris. Waste of time my arse, it was the best television in ages. Now, had the smackdown been done by Brokjaw to let's say Robert Gibbs, HA!, they would still be re-playing the clip.

(5,842 posts)Seriously, does Joe ever watch videos of his show?
If Joe freaking out, cutting off his guests, and screaming "let me finish, let me finish" as he desperately tries to spin Ryan's indifference to rape victims doesn't count as a political outburst, what does?

(7,113 posts)It was on the now defunct MSNBC show "1600 Pennsylvania Ave" with David Gregory.
What set him off was that Rachel Maddow kept making very valid points to debunk his claims, which Joe apparently thought should be treated like great irrefutable truths. She very politely proved him wrong, and he flew into a rage and stomped off the set.
So, to read Joe make those comments about Tweety, all I can say is "Ha! That's rich!"

(70,725 posts)And Tweety was a booster for Scabs in getting him into the MSNBC yak business.
How Tweety "Executed" DONAHUE on MSNBC. Tweety was on his book tour for another one of his "books" (large type, wide spaces between lines, blank half-pages). It was in the jingoistic hysteria in the run-up to the illegal Iraq attack. The book was about supposed "Americanism" -- an American Civ 101 ripoff about books and movies and cultural stuff that are essentially American (think, "The Great Gatsby" . So Phil welcomed him as a colleague and peer on Phil's show for the full hour to plug the book. From the moment he appeared, there was a strange, deadly snake look in Tweety's snake eyes. Phil was walking around the audience, apparently not sensing anything, while Tweety was motionless, following him only with his eyes. Phil brought up something or other questioning blind, kneejerk jingoism, and Tweety STRUCK! He started out with venom dripping, "You see, THIS is EXACTLY what's wrong with YOU Liberals: You are NEGATIVE about this country, you find NOTHING good about it," and on and on. It took awhile before Phil figured out what was happening. Later, Phil, devastated and spent, was sitting at the table with Tweety and, weaker and weaker, did some of his trademark shoulder shrugging and arm waving. Tweety delivered the coup de grace, "What's THIS (mimicking the movements)??!! What's with the --APE-- movements???!" Days or a week or two later, Phil's cancellation was announced and took effect.
