The farmers still love Trump. Go figure.

U.S. farmers continue to throw their support behind President Donald Trump, despite a lack of progress in tariff talks with China’s Xi Jinping at the G20 Summit in Japan earlier this month.

A Farm Journal Pulse survey conducted Monday shows that 79% of farmers now approve of the job Mr. Trump is doing, versus 74% who said they approved in the Pulse poll conducted on June 11. That approval rating includes 53% who strongly approve and 26% who somewhat approve.

This makes no sense to me at all.

Considering all Trump has done to screw them, his approval should be underwater. Racism must be a factor in their support.

and you hit it EXACTLY on the head. Part of the pathology that would lead someone to support this clown includes an absolute lack of ability or desire to admit one made a mistake, ever. It's tragic, too, because our dependence on the government as farmers should have continued their tradition of agrarian collectivism and progressive thinking. For whatever reason (lack of fairness doctrine/rw radio is a big one), rural America has gone a different direction.

If farmers had to actually sell their produce to make money, it would be another story altogether.

10. Best move we can make is to eliminate ALL agricultural subsidies.

It is an utter waste of taxpayer dollars.

If they can’t make a go of it like regular businesses, then go bankrupt.

The business I work got hammered HARD by Dump’s tariffs. We haven’t gotten any relief.

Either way, they are going to get completely screwed. It's funny how people will destroy their own lives just to make sure that the lives of others are destroyed as well.

I'm sure it's a great surprise to find that racial and religious animosity actually explains far more than class, wealth inequality, or poverty.

Turns out in all those decades where people were "voting against their interests" by voting for republicans that they weren't doing any such thing.

both AM & FM dial on radio; right now the big message is that the lack of sunspots is now causing global cooling and that we shouldn't raise taxes to address the issue.

Several years ago, on an unrelated search, I read Southern Civil War newspaper accounts at different stages of the war. There was a certain, quiet, unyielding, quiet, stubborn, and somewhat nasty sense towards the end, - the trump 20% reminds of those readings.
