We treated US housed German World War II prisoners way, way better than we treat immigrants

on our southern border, and they were people trying to kill our people. Maybe we need a Geneva Convention for immigrants.

My parents were friends with a couple that owned a farm near a WWII prisoner of war camp. Sometimes they would use the Germans to work on the farm and became friends with them. They were housed in a camp that was very similar to US Army training camp. There was plenty of good food, nice bunks, and adequate bathroom facilities. The prisoners had their own band, and they would sometimes have concerts at the camp. They were even paid the same amount as US enlisted men (about $20 a month) so they could buy cigarettes or candy at the camp store. After they were sent back to Germany, some of them even kept in touch with the locals they worked for during their stay.
