(d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery.
Have to think that any U.S. flag on shoes would not be right. So Colin is in the right.

(137 posts)I believe it's talking about actual flags being used. Flags intended to be flown on flag poles can't be used for anything else. Clothing such as pants, shirts, etc. with flag symbol or design do not apply (unless you are using an actual flag to make them). Shoes, socks and hats can also have the design without disrespecting the flag. My interpretation.

(51,094 posts)(i) The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever. It should not be embroidered on such articles as cushions or handkerchiefs and the like, printed or otherwise impressed on paper napkins or boxes or anything that is designed for temporary use and discard. Advertising signs should not be fastened to a staff or halyard from which the flag is flown.

(13,174 posts)us flag, not a picture of a flag, second that section of the us code has no provision for enforcement, and finally if it did it would be unconstitutional.
But the Betsy Ross flag has become a symbol of white nationalism. And our pre civil war nation was not anything African Americans should celebrate: they were slaves in half the states and disenfranchised in the rest.
