Rep. Justin Amash (I-MI), who recently announced he was leaving the Republican Party after calling for President Trumps impeachment, said on Sunday that he wont rule out a presidential run in 2020. Appearing on CNNs State of the Union, the former Freedom Caucus member confirmed that at the moment he plans to run for re-election to Congress as an independent, prompting host Jake Tapper to inquire about a possible third-party White House run.
I still wouldnt rule anything like that out, Amash replied. I believe that I have to use my skills, my public influence where it serves the country best and I believe I have to defend the Constitution in whichever way works best and if that means doing something else, then I do that. Asked when he would make that decision, the libertarian lawmaker said it wasnt on his radar right now.

(7,637 posts)1. That would be great.
He would force trump to debate him. Also, he would take some of the GOP vote, even if only a few percents making it even more likely our candidate would win.

As long as he doesn't try to pass himself off as a Democrat, I don't really care.

We have a big tent policy. All the candidate must do is register as a Dem and they can enter the race that very same day. Just look at what Bernie has done!

Just enough to screw trump out of a win. Might send some $ if he runs. Of course lots more to the Dem.
