Michelle Obama: "And then we had to meet the Trumps..."

Michelle Obama Talks Post-White House, Relationships, And Living A Healthy Life At Essence Festival
BY YESHA CALLAHAN · JULY 7, 2019

OBAMA SAT DOWN WITH GAYLE KING AT ESSENCE FESTIVAL AND SHARED RELATIONSHIP AND HEALTHY LIVING ADVICE.

.......

King asked Michelle Obama what her thoughts were at the end of Barack Obama’s second term in the White House. Our Forever First Lady hilariously referred to the “other family” during the inauguration. She also mentioned how her children were crying and slow moving as they were moving out of the home they’d grown up in for eight years.

“And then we had to meet the Trumps. That day was very emotional and then to sit at that inauguration and to look around at a crowd that was not reflective of the country, and I had to sit in that audience as one of the handfuls of people of color, all that I had to hold on to over those last 8 years, and it was a lot emotionally. By the time I got on the plane, it was a release of 8 years of trying to have to show up,” she said.

King asked Obama about looking back over her husband’s presidency, and how it felt to watch everything his administration built be dismantled.

“People ask me that question all the time and I can honestly say, our upset wasn’t over our legacy. We weren’t there to instill our legacy, but the upset it would cause the country. What saddens me is what it’s doing to the country as a whole. What we have to be really conscientious of is what kind of country we’re leaving for our children or grandchildren,” Obama said.

Ref last paragraph: Mostly old white guys; and well to do. They aren’t really concerned with the world they are leaving behind. Hell, I’m an old white guy so part way there. But I’m not wealthy. I’ll probably easily survive the mess that’s being left. But I have kids, maybe someday grandkids. We aren’t wealthy enough to retreat to some enclave and avoid what could be coming. Most of those rich guys figure their wealthy offspring will be able to and maybe they will. But their kids’ kids might not. Or just as likely they really don’t care what happens to those who follow them, related or not.

Even my dog knows that is NOT what the Obamas were about at all, ever! I would hope that more people are asking the Obamas how they feel about all the positive changes that they made for the country are now being turned into massive, negatives changes and in record time.

Jackie Kennedy had a similar natural grace and uncluttered elegance, minus the self-confidence Michelle Obama projects.

Trump just barged through the doors of the White House ahead of everyone else. The Obamas stopped and graciously escorted her in. That little scene and "No puppet; you're the puppet" will forever define the essence of Trump.

we have to think is this what we want to leave our children or our grandchildren, and even those who don't have children do we really want our country go down this path of darkness.

This is not normal.

The grandson is a wonderful little fellow, complete with smiles and genuinely nice temperament.

Anyway, my daughter was sitting with her legs apart and the little grandson between them, and he power vomited. It was like some slo-mo thing from a horror movie. Our daughter's face changed from content to horror, my wife was running for the paper towels.

Yeah. I don't think I could stand to be in the same room with Trump without being nauseated.
