Rick Marsh is in that boat. He voted for Trump in 2016, but he realizes now that the promise all your jobs are coming back, was just another lie.
Im sure you had more people around her voting for Trump, including myself, because he promised to bring jobs back, Marsh told The Times. We need competitive manufacturing jobs. I really dont care if its Democrat or Republican, female, black, white, I dont care. Whoevers in there, you need to put American workers first and Americans working first.

Not buying that shit... the economy was NOT the key driver to vote for Trump.... but at least some might be coming to their senses...

(32,010 posts)There may be some that are complaining about jobs, but most of them will continue to vote against their own self interests because Trump is supposed to "hurt the right people." (meaning gays, AA's, immigrants, and feminists). It's more important that Trump "sticks it to 'em" than for their own sorry selves to have health care or a job. It just blows my mind how people can be so hateful and stupid at the same time.

(56,828 posts)keep talking about jobs and unemployment like they're the best thing since sliced bread, even though job creation is down under Trump compared to the last 2 1/2 years of Obama.

(36,271 posts)the important thing for politicians is NOT to do something about the voters' problems, or even to try to do something about them, but rather to APPEAR to be trying to do something about them. In 45's case, this has been reduced to SAYING he's doing something about them, when even the most superficial fact-checking makes it clear that, at best, he is doing nothing, and at worst, he is deliberately and maliciously making things worse.

(82,849 posts)The other candidate told you that your jobs weren't coming back, but that she had a plan to equip you to work in another job. One candidate told you that only he could fix things for you. The other candidate told you that we're all in this together, but we could combine our efforts and lift everyone up. One candidate blamed everyone you hate for your predicament, and promised to make them pay for your suffering, real and imagined. The other candidate didn't pander to your prejudices and your fears and appealed to your good citizenship.
You went with the selfish, fear-mongering panderer, and look where it got you. If you think continuing to beat your head against the wall is going to change things when it hasn't done squat-ah so far, I don't know what to tell you. If you're willing to try something different, why not put your fears on hold for a while, and see what can be accomplished by working together instead of going all in on your own selfishness?

(17,984 posts)Two years ago there was an article about retraining programs in coal mining country. Nobody was taking advantage of them because they believed he was bringing back coal. So isn't it interesting that the federal government would go to the trouble of creating these programs even while tRump was promising a coal comeback? I mean, whom are you supposed to believe, right?
