He knows his base won't give a shit about underage girls... and he also know he has to offer something to Epstein to make sure whatever he knows about the Trump nasty does not come out....

but, his base is not all of the 38-44% that approve of him.

Some of them are Republicans that only care about the tax cuts for the rich and/or tearing down regulations

But, if he just loses 5% of his base, his ability to get re-elected goes in the tank.

First Trump would look guilty to pardon someone for sex crimes. Second Epstien would lose his 5th amendment rights and have to testify under oath. Trump is cornered here if he was involved.

Epstein was charged with one count of sex trafficking and one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking. It is hard for me to believe he only committed one act of each crime. So if Trump pardons him, the evidence of every other charge they didn't raise at this time would likely be given to states Attorney Generals to prosecute state charges against him.
