Will the confiscation of the photos result in new charges? The indictment (the version I read appears to be incomplete) dealt with incidents that occurred between 2002 and 2005; the time period covered by his Florida federal non-prosecution agreement.
What I'm asking is - can his defense claim double jeopardy? Or, will the photos be a part of new charges in which the defense cannot claim double jeopardy?

(62,444 posts)I'm not aware of him having been charged with the possession of such materials before.
Certainly, they were there in his place as of this weekend, so there's that.

(50,560 posts)If he does, he can't plead the Fifth when the prosecution starts asking him about what he may or may not have done for Trump.
Trump knows this.
Trump likes people who can put him in jail to stay out of it themselves.

(14,764 posts)trump can pardon for that also..... "Any crime against the United States". No if's; no conditions.
Rules of law only work when people follow them.
The founders didn't want a king, so they made the next best thing. And it works as long as the rules get followed.
They established a flushing system, but the drain is clogged with mitch mcconnel and company.
"So what are you going to do about it?" will be their new mantra.
We need to knock that smirk off their faces. But there are difficulties if "we" follow the rules and" they" don't.

(13,524 posts)BOUGHT Acosta and his little helpers, duh!!!!! Quite simple, really, and so very understandable...
As you say, maybe not directly, but some $$ by god went somewhere, and Lord willin, our intrepid investigators will get to the bottom of this judicial travesty.
(on the other hand, it doesn't look as if Epstein had any qualms about threatening people, so that's a possibility, but...hell, maybe a bit of both...)

And I figured out this morning, HEY, Acosta didnt pull off this deal by himself - he had helpers, enablers and people who looked the other way helping him make his dainty little arrangements for this Epstein fuckhead criminal.
So I hope Acosta and his enablers are all having the worst Monday of their lives here, because these finely-grinding wheels of justice are coming for you.

(146,317 posts)Actually it is. A smart man would have gotten rid of those as soon as an investigation began. That he did not means that he is not smart at all, or he's thinking with his other, smaller head.
Now, there's another charge that can be leveled against him, perhaps even another federal charge.
I read yesterday that he had hidden video cameras, too. Now, to find the videos, which would seal the deal completely. And, if he kept the photos of underage girls, he probably kept the videos, as well.
Uff da!

(6,395 posts)....get sloppy.
A bank robber for the first time will almost never get caught. They are very cautious, cover their tracks, etc.
But when they do it enough times, they start getting lazy and think they won't ever get caught. Which in the end, leads to them getting caught.

(13,421 posts)It's possible that Epstein thought he was safe from prosecution (read as protected) due to his powerful friends/blackmail victims. Arrogance is another possibility.
