As if it resolves Trump and others of responsibility. They are distancing themselves by saying things like "I haven't spoken to the guy in over a decade" etc.

Bear in mind the infamous plea deal was in 2006. He was a known and admitted sex offender 13 years ago. I find it a pretty low bar to say you haven't spoken to him since he became radioactive.
