Nancy Pelosi insists on more investigations, even though she thinks Trump has committed crimes.
If the bottomless pleas for more oversight seem like a road to nowhere, you may finally understand how leaders plan to quell those in the caucus who want to impeach the president: continued investigations, tough talk about Trump, and calls for even more investigations.
Pelosi has navigated the last 2 1/2 months using some form of that strategy. Whenever the calls for impeachment get too loud, shes able to hold off Resistance Twitter by saying Trump is self-impeaching, or that shes done with him, or that hes obstructed justice, or hes throwing a temper tantrum, or engaged in a cover-up, or belongs in prison. And then she continues touting investigations that have thus far failed to reveal anything remotely as damaging as the Mueller report.
The strategy works for memes and Yas Queen T-shirts, but has been wearing thin within Pelosis own caucus.
Weve done the oversight, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) told HuffPost on Thursday. Theyre committing the crimes. Weve won in court. Theyre committing the crimes anyway. Theyve left us no choice but to impeach and we wont impeach.

(1,285 posts)We already know the score. Subpoena all of Trump's financial records and make them public. When the voters know about Trump's criminal activities, impeachment will be a cake walk.

If you aren't then the House does their own investigations. Mueller's scope of investigation was limited.

Getting the grand jury testimony is a reason in itself to open up impeachment. This isn't rocket science.

What I find appalling in discussion here right now is Im currently under the impression there far too many people who couldnt name the three branches or government without google, much less understand how a bill, say, becomes law. Maybe I should help.

(38,445 posts)Her crew has a lot of experience in timing events. The question is not if, the question is when is the best time. Maybe in the fall, when people are paying more attention, or later closer to the next election. So, timing is everything, and who has a whole lot of experience in "political timing"?
...Also, maybe more info on Trump and crimes will come out. Maybe we will discover more crimes, (I think we will also get more proof of crimes) Lots of people want Trump out now, (and so do I) but I will give the timing lever, when to push the button, to Pelosi.

... More proof, the more likely he will resign. Oh, that won't happen you say?... How do you know? How much total information do we have on Russian collusion on the election? Is Trump one of Epstein's fellow travelers in the young girl club?..Will more information come out on other issues?. What issues? When will it come out?

The argument of worrying about the elections is a valid one. What if we were to loose the house due to rash ill planned impeachment proceedings... then what?!

We've waited patiently long enough, Speaker Pelosi. Start an informal impeachment hearing now. You are letting down your constituents by continuing to wait.
