All four of my grandparents were born in Eastern Europe. Mother was born in the U.S., but raised in Europe. I was born in Ohio. Our piece of shit neighbors in the 1950s when I was in elementary school would not allow their children to play with me because my grandmother had a foreign accent. And, the "man" of the family was the Superintendent of Schools in my town. Talk about a piece of shit. He tried to pick up my divorced Mom all the time and he was married with 5 kids, but his kids were too good to be around me and my family.

IMO, there are some who think because their ancestors arrived in the U.S. years and years ago, they are so much more special than "new" Americans.

My kind skeddadled out of Europe back in the 1700s through the 1800s. Probably mainly for economic reasons but also some religious ones and just general opportunistic ones.

My big regret is that I really can't trace my heritage to the much earlier immigrants that crossed from Asia 10,000-15,000 years ago. Maybe I can, just don't know.

However, my biggest regret is that some recent inhabitants such as the RW underclass want to limit immigration now that they have found their own homes. Their undeservedness is manifest through their hatred and lack of understanding of their own history.
