ICE: This is a warrant.
Activist: No its not.
This citizen stopped ICE from arresting 2 undocumented immigrants because he knew his rights.
As #ICERaids start today, know your legal rights & proceed accordingly
The ICE agents kept trying to intimidate the driver. But the driver knew it wasnt an actual warrant. ICE eventually left without making arrests

(38,532 posts)And MacCormick is one very brave man.
When the ICE does this, can they be arrested for displaying fake government documents? Should the retort be " sir, you are showing me official government documents that you know are false. I am placing you under citizen's arrest for being a foreign infiltrator, on the same basis that people are arrested for having fake SS and green cards."

(10,207 posts)I had no idea ICE is faking warrants.
How many people have backdown because they thought the document was a real warrant?

(7,637 posts)ICE has an administrative order, which is not a warrant.

(10,918 posts)This Wikipedia articles covers both the AHCA (American Health Care Act) and the BCRA (Better Care Reconciliation Act)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Health_Care_Act_of_2017
H.R. 1628, American Health Care Act of 2017, Cost Estimate, CBO, 5/24/17
https://www.cbo.gov/publication/52752
would increase the number of people who are uninsured by 23 million in 2026 relative to current law.
H.R. 1628, Better Care Reconciliation Act of 2017, Cost Estimate, CBO, 6/26/17
https://www.cbo.gov/publication/52849
A little bit better: leaving 22 million uninsured in 2026 relative to current law.
Both can only be described as acts of American Genocide. We need to call the GOP the American Genocide Party.
While neither of these bills passed (the Better Care one failed by just one vote), the ending of risk corridors funding and ending funding of cost sharing reductions, and allowing junk insurance plans to undercut the ACA etc. is estimated to cause more than 10 million to lose insurance.
And no, emergency rooms are not comprehensive health care -- they do just enough to stabilize you and then give you a fistful of prescriptions that you can't afford to fill, and a bunch of referrals to doctors and specialists that you can't afford to see if you are like most uninsured. And I'm not talking about some aberrant ones that have occasionally appeared in the news, wheeling someone out onto the sidewalk and leaving them there. No, no, no, I'm talking about ALL of them. ALL.

(17,956 posts)act remarkably like the Gestapo. It's uncanny. Disregard the Constitution. It's just an old piece of paper anyway. Violate someone's constitutional rights by forcing them to submit to this other piece of paper signed by some half ass IQ45 appointee. Um, no. Don't think so assholes. Why don't YOU get your ass back on that turnip truck you just fell off of, Jr brown shirt.

HUDSON, N.Y. Two community members were not detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers this week because of "know your rights" education, according to the head of the group Columbia County Sanctuary Movement.
ICE officials, though, said a person interfered with an enforcement action, "causing officers to instead depart the scene to avoid further disruption."
Bryan MacCormack, executive director of Columbia County Sanctuary Movement, said in a press release issued Friday that he accompanied two community members to Hudson City Court on Tuesday, March 5. After leaving the court to take the individuals to their attorney's office, ICE agents followed and pulled over his vehicle, McCormack said.
"Three ICE deportation officers surrounded the vehicle," the press release said. "One deportation officer approached the driver's side window and asked MacCormack for his license, which he provided. Officers also asked the community members for identification. They knew their rights, remained silent, and didn't provide information."
The community members were not identified.
The press release said the ICE officers produced a Department of Homeland Security document titled "Warrant of Arrest of Alien." MacCormack said he insisted the document was not a court-ordered warrant signed by a judge and refused to comply.
"ICE tried to intimidate me into relinquishing my rights, and I upheld my unwavering defense of our community," MacCormack said

Oh, here's ICE's weak sauce statement further down in the article:
ICE said in a statement that "during an attempted targeted enforcement action March 5, in which ICE deportation officers specifically sought two unlawfully present foreign nationals, an individual interfered with the enforcement action, causing officers to instead depart the scene to avoid further disruption."
"Individuals who intervene in or seek to impede ICE officers while they are carrying out their mission recklessly endanger not only the enforcement personnel but also the individuals targeted for arrest and potentially innocent bystanders," the statement added. "Those who engage in such actions expose themselves to potential criminal violations and run the risk of harming the very people they purport to support."
