Change the channel. Avoid all cable "news" shows which are just opinion shows anyway. All of them. Just skim the headlines on news aggregation sites (including DU) and avoid obvious "outrage" traps which are very easy to identify. You won't regret it.

I don't watch TV; I'm not on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram either. It just seems that outrage culture and clickbait have infected what used to be normal discussion forums as well, even the ones on sceptical and science sites which ought to be immune.

Our television plays DVDs and Netflix. That's all it does. No broadcast, no cable, nothing else.

I read the local paper, the local weekly, and a few news websites so it's easy to skip all the manufactured outrage and avoid the fatigue that goes with that.

Trump and Pence are fucking meat puppets, just as Ronald Reagan was. They are sad corrupt men who will say, do, or sign anything for a blow job.

Their masters are relatively silent, hiding behind the noise of the "news" machines.

news, too, but this past week has almost convinced me to drop that too. It seems like everybody on both sides is just indulging in a food fight that no one can win and that precludes anything from actually getting done. Social media is going to be the death of this country as a functioning entity. How about a month of no reporting on what gets said on social media?

The more fatigued they are, the less hard they fight.
