Text of Rep. Green's resolution and why it was properly tabled
Lots of DUers are complaining about the Democrats not supporting Green's resolution. But it's pretty clear that those complaining haven't read the resolution.
Here's a link:https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/unfit-be-president-full-text-house-impeachment-resolution-trump-n1030611
As is clear, this was not a resolution to commence an impeachment inquiry. It was a resolution to adopt a single article of impeachment based on the broadly stated "high misdemeanor" of Trump being "unfit" with no mention of the Mueller investigation, obstruction of justice, etc. The only specific action referenced is Trump's tweets about "the Squad."
In short, it was a particularly ineffectual and, dare I say, stupid, resolution and it's actually a bit embarrassing to me that 95 Democrats would support it.
If we're going to do impeachment, it should be done right. Not via some half-baked resolution that doesn't even seek to start an inquiry but jumps straight to the adoption of a specific, toothless "article."
