(15,137 posts)High 80s and beautiful.
Expecting it to be over 90 tomorrow, but no significant humidity.
And most importantly, considering the past few years, no fires in our area and no smoke so far. Last year, in particular was HIDEOUS for smoke.

(10,168 posts)We had perfect conditions for tornadoes and a derecho wind event. Also severe storms last night after a couple days of severe heat (heat index over 100), that caused power station fires in Madison.
Weve been told that the damage is so severe that they will have to rebuild our power structures before we will have electricity again. Several days at least.
Anyone else enjoying the severe weather as we are? Ugh!

(16,385 posts)I think that wind comes from all that rain falling and evaporating before it hits the ground. Virga? Maybe it took a while for the ground to cool off. Hopefully, there's enough moisture in the ground that it will do it again tomorrow and we'll have another cool-ish night.

However, when it gets hot here, look out. Many homes don't have AC. Thankfully, it doesn't happen too often...yet.

Can you tell that I love it here?!

(31,261 posts)Except for the housing expense, but that is life, people don't buy houses in undesirable places to live.
The Bay Area, the food, the climate, the laid back but driven culture, the cultural and racial diversity. It is not perfect but it is closer than anywhere else in this country.

(7,715 posts)It's like the Melting Pot of the USA now, maybe what NYC was (and still is).
You know this place well: there are real problems here, and it's expensive. But there's no place I'd rather be.

(15,462 posts)To me, a July under 80 is completely unacceptable. Love living in NYC.

(7,715 posts)I just have to go 8 miles from my home to experience desert conditions, where it is superhot. The Bay Area is funny: it has at least 20+ microclimates and you can go from our place where it's 65 degrees and be in a place where it's 85 degress in a few miles.
Here's an old article that expresses it better than I can: [link:https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Weather-as-varied-as-the-people-Land-and-fog-2900468.php|]

(13,485 posts)I walked from Columbus Circle to the 53 & Lex station and my shirt was soaked like it had rained. I've spent a lot of time in NYC over the years but that was the worst for me. I think the index was 110.

(34,112 posts)It was better today, 98 with a heat index of 109. It was supposed to be better tomorrow but they have put that off another day grrrrrrr. We hit 114 index earlier this week. I was out at 7AM and wondered why it felt so sweaty. It was 80 something with a 91% humidity. It has been fun all over I see. Working outside in this is not a lot of fun but I am used to it. I hope it does break after tomorrow, I need time to do some heavy work.

(23,340 posts)Horrible humidity.
Spent the morning at a swim meet, we were all suffering. I walked to the pool at 6:45 am and had sweat through my clothes then.
Me too! Same area. We are not accustomed to this extreme heat for a whole week! Monday is supposed to bring relief!
