Cop says Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez should be shot following Trump's racist targeting of The Squad

“A Gretna police officer posted a comment on his Facebook page this past week calling U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a ‘vile idiot’ who ‘needs a round, and I don’t mean the kind she used to serve,'” NOLA reported Saturday.

“The comment, which alludes to the freshman Democrat’s past work as a New York City bartender while apparently saying she should be shot, comes amid increasing scrutiny of racist and violent social media posts by police officers in departments across the country,” NOLA added.

The officer, Charlie Rispoli, has been on the force since 2005.

“I’m not going to take this lightly and this will be dealt with on our end,” Chief Arthur Lawson said. “It’s not something we want someone that’s affiliated with our department to make these types of statements. That’s not going to happen.”

This is outrageous - how can he be trusted to uphold the law without fear or favour?

One would like to believe that he will lose his job but in this kind of climate he will probably get a promotion

the inside of the LAPD and LACSD a long time ago was horrifying. Not a surprise to someone who was a poor and sometimes homeless child, but horrifying anyway.

But the internet is changing a lot of norms, and many definitely for the better. This is one of them. Someday we will remember in amazement just how bad it used to be, and our descendants will learn about it in high school and college classes.

Assuming we stop the RW movement to authoritarian government, of course.

Good historical notes found there on the history of this police department.

Another bad officer on his way to gone. These public exposures are also now making it much harder for poor communities desperate to get anyone with training to hire them. Or at least seriously risky.
