Trump doubles down, says minority congresswomen 'should apologize to America'

President Trump on Sunday doubled down on his attacks against a group of minority congresswomen, saying that they should "apologize" to the United States for the things they have said.

"I don't believe the four Congresswomen are capable of loving our Country," Trump said in an early-morning tweet. "They should apologize to America (and Israel) for the horrible (hateful) things they have said. They are destroying the Democrat Party, but are weak & insecure people who can never destroy our great Nation!"

The comments from Trump come a week after he sparked an uproar by telling the four freshman House Democrats - - Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (Minn.), Rashida Tlaib (Mich.) and Ayanna Pressley (Mass.) - to "go back" to the "crime infested places" they came from before speaking out about U.S. policies. Omar is the only one of the four born outside the U.S.

The remarks, as well as a "send her back" chant targeting Omar at a Trump rally in North Carolina, sparked widespread outrage from Democratic - and a few Republican - lawmakers. The House on Tuesday voted to condemn Trump's tweets as racist.

They shouldn't be feeding that particular troll any more than any random internet troll, and instead focus on representing their districts while acting like Trump doesn't even exist.

Now, as president, he has the ultimate bully pulpit and people have to listen to him.

My rep, not the worst of Republicans (although pretty bad) has been laying low. There's still a fair amount of Trump support around here.

the 30 buttons on it-- one for each news desk. He would run through every button at least once a day-- more if he wasn't mentioned.

I remember a story of a new reporter (do they still call them "cubs"?) running in to his editor with a great story. The editor took just one look and told the kid "That's just Trump bullshitting us again".

There was a small local rag popular amongst the up-and-coming that, upon the announcement of the settlement with Marla, suggested she cash the check fast. Real fast. Trump sued them and they went out of business-- claimed they would win, but couldn't afford the legal costs.

A lot of people whine about the Times, but my only real beef with them was that they took Trump's Central Park 5 ad.
They knew exactly what he was doing-- he didn't give a rat's ass about the 5 or the victim, but it got his name in the papers big time.

because I don’t remember anyone in Congress standing up for the women. I heard a lot of outrage over principle, but the only people I heard defending the women were from other countries.
I’m disappointed in our government, and I’ve lost faith in Nancy for wanting to keep it the old way.
These four women are the only real Americans in the room. The Founding Fathers are smiling (Thomas Paigne is dancin in the street). To paraphrase Thomas Jefferson, it is not our right to tear down a tyrannical government, it is our duty.
These women are right, and between them and Elizabeth, they have the only five pair of balls in town.
trump is a bully and a coward, a liar, a cheat, and a thief. I wouldn’t piss in his mouth if his teeth were on fire. And why am I not seeing something about the children every day on the front page?

He has reframed the issue. The criticism from those four women were directed towards him and the Republicans. But, instead of taking the criticism head-on, he twists the argument and reframes it. He ignores the fact that the four women are criticizing his policies, and instead he says that they're criticizing the "country."

Old propaganda ploy. I just don't understand why all of our Dem leaders aren't calling him out on it.
