Newspapers, TV, and most online sites, depend upon and love political horse races. So, regardless of all the sound and fury, let's put an end to the bullshit. Here are the 2020 outcomes. Trump will lose. Dems will hold the House. Republicans will keep the Senate.
So if we have the White House, and the House of Representatives, it will be meaningless if we don't control the Senate.
If the Republicans hold the senate, McConnell can refuse to bring any vote for a federal judge, in any district, to the floor.
McConnell can ensure that a vote in favor of any presidential nominee can be defeated.
McConnell can shoot down any legislation that benefits most Americans.
McConnell can do whatever he wants to do, to halt any progressive legislation from ever succeeding.
McConnell controls Senate Republicans. And Senate Republicans control what kind of country America is.
So even if we hold the House and win the presidency, are there any questions about where we are going over the next four years?
The specialty of the Republican Party is fucking America. And here we are, about to enter the third decade of the 21st century. And Republicans are still blocking progress. They're still standing in the way of the concepts of equality, fairness and Justice. They're still peddling racism. They're still all for sexism. They still hate LGBTQs. They still dream about a white, Christian America. They still want an America in which everyone here is from Norway, all medical care is personally paid for, and everyone has giant bootstraps to pull themselves up.
The reality is that their version of America is "everyone for himself." And if you can't make it, too bad. "I've got mine. Fuck everyone else."
Is this Republican nightmare the world that most human beings want to live in? I doubt it.
Odds are that the Republicans will hold the senate for the next four years. And then they will join the rest of their party on the dustbin of history.
It seems that our long national nightmare will then be over. So when/if Democrats control all the branches of government, will we be looking at a better world?
Don't hold your breath for Eden, Version II. The answer to humanities imperfections is evolution. And that's going to take quite a while (if we don't destroy the planet before we can get there).

The worst thing about gridlock in the senate is the narrative will be that the Democratic President is unable to get anything done. More both sides bullshit.
