The Reversed Gotcha Moment of Muellers Testimony Is a Metaphor for the Whole ThingWhere does this leave us? Basically, exactly where we were before, which should be unsurprising to anyone who watched as Mueller performed at peak Bartleby all morning, refusing to read words from his own report (leaving House members to read them instead) and declining to amplify anything in the report beyond noting that it was correct. He mulishly resisted anyones characterization of any legal elements of, say, obstruction. And now, the one bit of news that seemed to have been news has been clarified back into the same exact legal language as was carefully crafted in the report. It was a misstep that was misunderstood and then retracted, a perfect capsule performance of how dragging an unwilling witness into a polemical hearing was never going to go well.
Sums up my thoughts perfectly.

(45,806 posts)treated Mueller with respect. The judicial committee SHO0ULD have done the same,
The voters who watched/listened to the hearings now know some of the worst bad actions done by the Prez. That cures the problem exposed by the Pug. that the Pug lady who, when interviewed said "She didn't know there were any things in the report that were bad, but I do listed to conservative cable for my news."
There weren't any fireworks today, but it was informative to those who paid attention. To those who didn't bother to watch the hearings, NOTHING would have enlightened them.

(1,480 posts)At least Mueller agreed that obstruction did occur. And noted Trump's willingness to receive Russian help again.

(58,785 posts)No one can. In other words, cover your eyes and ears to this stuff because GIGO until we have, you know, information coming in.
In contrast, Chuck Rosenberg pointed out a piece of information he feels is "incredibly important": That according to Facebook, relatively simple and inexpensive Russian disinfo and agitprop reached up to 126,000,000 Americans in 2016, or just under 40% of the electorate.
THAT is something to consider. They're hard at it now and in fact never stopped. The Kremlin's general theme is: Your party and candidates are incompetent and corrupt, no better than "them," there's nothing and no one to believe in, and you're going to lose anyway. So don't bother voting.
We have to get smarter about what we'll just swallow because "someone" writes or says it.

(1,375 posts)I learned that all my thoughts and feelings, and what little I read (and listened to) of the Mueller report. Are vindicated. Even though what was read in the Mueller report was repeated today, it still confirmed it.
And believe me, it does feel good. It feels good, because it's out there. It feels good because his base (they don't read) is hearing it replayed maybe in stores or gas stations etc. But, it's out there. This NEEDED to happen. In our fight, the Dems have so many battles going on that one small victory is a good thing. Truth came to light today, even though most people here have already read it or listened to it, this hit the masses.
I know because I was at the dentist office and it was on the tv. And this in a small town in Idaho. Take this win, however small you feel it is, and breathe, we have more battles to win!!!
