Today was a sad commentary on the state of politics in the US.
It amazes me that voters on both sides are not calling for impeachment immediately.
I am older, and live in the South, and am shocked that right wing voters are just fine with Russian involvement in elections, after I had to listen to those same people say "Better Red than Dead" for decades.
What has happened to us?

(1,207 posts)Bizarre. I am not sure that this nuttiness can be blamed on just the propaganda from the past several decades. This is something else entirely.

I wish I could exhume Lee Atwater and smack the crap out of him right now.

(2,848 posts)It was a win for the left unquestionably. At this point it will be hard for impeachment not to proceed.

(1,207 posts)I have been a voting Dem for decades, and have alienated family members over Trump.
However, in the case, it's kind of like watching a Depression coming- a train wreck- or a store closing. This was watching Republican Congressmen and women who STILL want to cover for the criminal to the detriment of these poor people that will suffer--- many of whom were convinced to vote for the jackwit.
It was very sad.

I'll get tombstoned for saying that the state of the US is sad right now?
This isn't a tennis match.

(1,207 posts)Good lord, did you listen to the hearings today?
Ultimately, one of two things are going to happen. Either we are going to go through a truly uglier political period than we are now, complete with a deep economic recession (that's what I think is going to happen personally-- all the signs are there), or the GOP is going to go through a historic split, much like the Democrats in the '60's when Strom Thurmond joined the Republican party.
The latter would be better for the economy- the people- but, I think it's going to be the former.

I hope Pelosi goes ahead and starts with impeachment proceedings-- but, I don't have high hopes.
Horrible situation.
I don't really think your flippant remarks and bouncy little green thing are cute.
