What I would truly love is for a group of white Christian ministers and scientists to make the rounds of all churches giving lectures on how every single person in the bible (but concentrating on Jesus) was a POC. How many people would stop attending church services? How many would give up their faith?

(11,744 posts)Religion, because it is so diffuse and vague, has the ability to be used to justify a lot of things. This is why a lot of atheists tend to see religion as a poor vehicle from which to find truth, reason, and beauty.
It becomes a semantic argument, "My book and faith tradition tells me that all people are equal in God's eyes" v. "My book tells me that God has a chosen people and my tradition tells me White people are the new chosen people" The problem is that both are reading from the same book.
It is a good sentiment, but I am not sure if Religion has the best track record for making the argument.
