Rand Paul declares Tea Party dead as Congress, Trump agree on new spending

Budget hawk Sen. Rand Paul, ripping the new and expensive $2.7 trillion budget deal and its supporters on both sides, declared the tight-fisted Tea Party dead in a Senate speech.

“Both parties have deserted – have absolutely and utterly deserted – America and show no care and no understanding and no sympathy for the burden of debt they are leaving the taxpayers, the young, the next generation, and the future of our country. The very underpinnings of our country are being eroded and threatened by this debt,” said Paul.

And, he added, the deal between Democrats and President Trump “marks the death of the Tea Party movement in America.”

Paul said, “Today is the final nail in the coffin. The Tea Party party is no more.”

The Tea Party died when Trump took over. Republicans went back to the same free spending they did under both Bushes and Reagan.

I'm sure the obscene defense spending and tax cuts for the über wealthy didn't play any part in all of that debt stuff

Wasn't that bill supposed to just fricassee the deficit? By cutting taxes on wealthy people like you, millions of new jobs would be created (how many have you created with your cuts?), and the federal budget would be balanced forever, hallelujah!

It's been barely 20 months, and the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act has blown another several trillion dollar hole in the budget, just like the dirty fucking hippies said it would.

So, you know, fuck you and your crocodile tears, you fraud.

Trump moved in and rebranded it again.

Tea Party, Trumpist.........all the same far right extremist nutjobs just a different name.

Rand Paul's "concern" about the debt was a fn lie and was a never a real principle to Paul otherwise he would not have nose jammed up Trump's crack.

Family values, fiscal conservatism, all christofascist newspeak. Not the real principles of the American right just slogans and a narrative to use against the Democrats.

we always knew the tea party was always about racism and not budget. It didn't die. Now it doesn't have to hide it's real agenda.

why does he continue to be a member of and support the party that contributes the most to them? The GOP spends money on the country's credit card like a drunken frat boy at a strip club.

The democrats actually reduce deficits when in power and every time the GOP regains power they slash revenue and increase spending.
