On one hand it's a fascinating time capsule of what the pre-cable/internet TV news era was like. On the other hand, it's a frighteningly prescient and accurate depiction of a media landscape degenerating into cheap sensationalism, "infotainment" and profit-driven, morally-free consumerism. And it's an embarrassment of riches in terms of writing and acting. It's usually the "I'm mad as hell" monologue that gets highlighted in clip parades, but there's so much, much more.

Nominations to Beaty (who was for all practical purposes only in this scene), William Holden, Lumet...
Just amazing and so predictive.
