Donald Trump and first lady Melania quickly left Dayton for El Paso on Wednesday after visiting privately for two hours with hospitalized shootings victims and first responders
The president made no public remarks in Ohio, where the community was mourning nine shooting victims
But a top adviser to the president insisted he was ' treated like a Rock Star inside the hospital' and it 'was all caught on video' in tweets that he sent while Air Force One was headed to the state of Texas
'They all loved seeing their great President!' social media director Dan Scavino tweeted after Dayton's mayor and Ohio's Democratic senator attacked Trump minutes after his departure at a press conference
Trump left Ohio without paying his respects to the dead at Sunday's shooting site, where the members of the community established a make-shift memorial, after his motorcade passed hundreds of protesters
Journalists were not allowed inside, allegedly to protect the victims' privacy - but the White House released photos of Trump being hugged by the 'incredible medical staff at Miami Valley Hospital' on social media
It put out a highlight reel of the otherwise secret visit, as well, that gave the impression of a warm visit
'Some extremely powerful moments throughout the entire visit, with so much enthusiasm and love, contrary to what the Trump Hating Dems would ever share or say,' the White House aide said
Trump said in a tweet of his own that that he had a 'warm & wonderful visit' as he flew toward the state of Texas for another bereavement visit
'Just left Dayton, Ohio, where I met with the Victims & families, Law Enforcement, Medical Staff & First Responders,' the president wrote from AF1
Trump himself tweeted a short video that played over a sentimental soundtrack, showing him and first lady Melania Trump posing for photos with doctors and nurses and comforting hospital staff. 'Have you ever seen anything like this?' he asks one group. Others, including a group of law enforcement officers, are shown greeting the first couple warmly.
The video ends with a message: 'America stands with Ohio!'
The president also tweeted once he reached El Paso, Texas, the site of Saturday's first gun massacre, that he had watched Brown and Whaley 'misrepresenting what took place inside of the hospital.'

(27,843 posts)I think it's unseemly, yes, and I'm sure the nurses were handpicked to meet him, but it's a tough job and if this doesn't actually affect their work, then I don't think it's grounds for firing.
It is very unfortunate, however.

You have to be a racist and/or morally dead inside to star-fucker about with that white power bastard.

(40,231 posts)These are Trump supporters working at the hospital who were gathered to give him a greeting. It wouldn't be hard to find 50 people who would want to meet him in a republican state. These are people brought in from all over the hospital, not just people taking care of the victims.
And Sen. Brown and Mayor Whaley both said that Trump and Melania were very warm and acted appropriately at the hospital.
So I don't get what this bullshit complaining is about. He is obviously angry that people weren't gushing about him all over the television.
To release a video about it to prove how much everyone "loved him" is just sick.

(1,773 posts)Are these the people who took care of the victims? I say shame on all of them.
Also, they are all white people with matching scrubs.
Because of a lot of relatives needing hospitalization the past 10 years, we have dealt with a lot of medical personal. I have not seen matching scrubs, and I have not seen an all white staff. And that has been in hospitals throughout Wisconsin.
Who are these people? And honestly, if I heard the medical staff creating that kind of rucus, I would be on the phone to the administration. Not the time or the place.
Shame on all of them.

(13,776 posts)At least, presumably, these fangirls aren't the staff at a hospital caring for people who had just been shot because of Kim.
Edit: I assumed (because there is no bar too low for Trump) that these pictures were taken in El Paso. Still, he does look too happy for the occasion, considering why he's in Dayton.

(13,776 posts)I wouldn't mind if a nurse of mine voted for Trump, but I would sure mind if she were at the same hospital that was caring for a loved one who had just been shot because of him.
And my god, how tone deaf of him? Look at that face! He's loving all of this... he couldn't care less why he's there.
My bad: he's in Dayton, and there's no evidence yet that Dayton was a white supremacist thing. Still, that party atmosphere is pretty disgusting.

(5,128 posts)implicit or explicit. I post on a nursing board and there is a long thread still going ever since Elizabeth Warren made her comment about bias in hospitals. Some nurses took great offense and have posted epic rants about Elizabeth Warren and have come up with the dumbest excuses as to why there are disparities. These are the folks taking care of your loved ones.
Now, to be fair, I will say thatit was only a few. The vast majority recognized that we all have implicit bias that must be rooted out and there is a lot of research that tell us this. As nurses we pride ourselves on evidence based research to guide our practice, so why some people took offense to what Elizabeth Warren said is beyond me. There is a ton of research that backs up what she was saying - bias in the medical setting.
I stopped posting in that thread because I said to myself, there had to be trolls posting. I cannot believe well educated health care providers think this way. But alas, they do. So I am not surprised if they could find some bigoted Trump fans to greet him.
