Oh, brother. I don't know what pains me more--the idiocy of Kushner or the fact I actually have to AGREE with Noah Rothman..."Jared Kushner, the presidents son-in-law and senior adviser who has internally championed pardons and commutations, had suggested Mr. Blagojevich be pardoned, *advising the president that it would appeal to Democrats.*" (sourced also to the NYT head stenographer--Maggie Haberman)

Mandatory Qualifier: for the one or two who have spent all day excoriating those who post tweets, I always include the full language in text along with the embedded tweet and if a MSM article is included, typically excerpt that as well. If Admins did not wish us to post tweets they would not have accommodated embedding tweets and associated functionality-- AND they would have added it into the rules for GD of what is not allowed. As they have not, I trust I will not see another thread or post in this thread deriding me for doing so. If tweets in threads bother you, then please feel free to use the trash thread function or to do similarly with me as a poster that you should/can ignore.

Back to the dear former governor of IL, did he do anything? Collect any money? I think all he did was speculate on the phone about the monetary value of Sen. Obama's abandoned seat.

Beyond that level of specificity, you'd have to research the full records. I do know that there was not a lot of doubt expressed--even by Democrats (or ESPECIALLY by Democrats) at the time that he'd been fairly tried nor of his guilt.

Democrats are for REAL justice and truth. We will go after and take down ANY buttwipe or crook, even one of our own.
Republicans,OTOH, protect, coverup, promote and elect them.

(10,026 posts)While many think Blago's sentence was too long for being a sleaze that got pissed on tape because he could not get money for hawking a Senate seat, there is no love for him here.
We ended up with Quinn and suffered through Rauner. Blago is pretty much forgotten except for his hair.
I doubt many other people even know who he is. I think the aim is to rehash how once a Dem tried to enrich himself by selling a political appointment hoping they can pull a "both sides do it" while the shit continues to hit the fan with Trump/GOP corruption.

Yeah, maybe he got more than he would have if he hadn't pissed off the judge (so feel free to knock a year off his sentence if he's been a good boy while inside), but no, a pardon for his shady ass does NOT appeal to this Democrat .

(10,279 posts)Pardons for politicians and their lackeys is a Republican thing. If Trump wants to give some pardons, there are some prisoners with dubious convictions and some that got excessive sentences -- he should pardon them.
But, Blogojevich tried to steal and sell our democracy. His conviction was fair, and he and his champions need to shut up.
