I lived there a long time ago and have been trying to get my head around the thought of the PLA storming some of the most crowded streets on earth.

This is about young people who feel screwed.

If the Chinese gov decides to crush it, they will, and with zero remorse. What is anyone else going to do about it? Nothing, and they know it.

China has been trying the frog in the pot routine with Hong Kong since it was returned from the British.

They also risked a significant backlash from the west.

The wealth and technology exists on the mainland and the west is neutered in their ability to respond at this point.

By the way India is doing the same with Kashmir.

We are in the midst of a global fascist revival.
