That sounds like the logic of an abusive partner--I beat the shit out of you so you can better appreciate those moments when I don't.

As I get older I have less and less tolerance for the god stuff. If there is a god (my tongue is in my check when I even allow that its existence is possible), he/she/it is about as effective as Epstein's two guards.

By coincidence, today is the anniversary of my own mother's passing many years ago and while listening to this video of them makes me teary, it also brings a smile to my face.
