Damn them! I was so supportive of them when they quit carrying tobacco products, and now they pull this shit:
The hashtag #BoycottCVS began trending on Thursday following news the company plans to cut reimbursements for women who receive birth control through the mail, which led to swift condemnations from groups like NARAL Pro-Choice America.
Oddly enough, that might not be the only reason for CVS customers to join the campaign. CVS Health Corp. is allegedly one of the largest donors to the presidents reelection campaign. The report was originally published in the Wall Street Journal in February 2018, and the Federal Election Commission website shows they gave $35,000 to the Trump Victory PAC.
According to FEC.gov, CVS also gave to some Democratic groups as well, including the New Democrat Coalition Action Fund and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
........................................
Out reached out to CVS for comment but did not receive a reply before publication time. This story will be updated should a representative from the company respond. The company has, however, pledged to stop donating to a pro-Trump dark money group known as America First Policies after initially giving the PAC $500,000.

(32,640 posts)There are local congressional candidates that who work to get incentives for businesses like large grocery stores and drug stores open in low income areas where they might not otherwise, so my guess would be that's where they support Dems.
The New Democrat Coalition is a congressional group, so I imagine that those were donations to individual congresspersons as well.

(8,680 posts)They are biggest ripoff store I have ever been in. That have their token sales on misc items but the vast majority of their products are way overpriced. About a year ago I overheard a guy being interviewed at a Starbucks for a CVS manager position in DC area. The guy doing the interview I assume was a regional manager and made a comment that its great to manage a CVS because is so easy to make money because they can price the items with huge markups and people still buy them. I guess because many people are in CVS for health related issues and aren't focused on prices. I avoid CVS as much as I can and go to Target or other discount stores for medicines, etc.

I'm a CVS Top 1% Saver. They have sales that revolve weekly, bi-weekly or every three weeks so if you don't see somethng on sale...it will be. Between the manufacturer coupons, CVS coupons, ExtraBucks and sales stacked together, you can get Gillette razors for $1-2, Crest 3D White toothpaste for $1-2, Edge gel for $0.50 to 1.50, etc. If you need a blood pressure monitor, you can get an Omron 10 series cuff unit for $34 and get over 60% off Sonicare toothbrushes and so forth.
Some of the deals are so good, you actually make money on the purchase, which offsets other merchandise.

Once you grasp this technique, you can use it in any store.
The nice think about TheKrazyCouponLady is that she or other posters do the shopping for you. Her site provides multiple stores, with sample shopping lists to get the most out of everything. You just save the inserts from the Sunday papers or go to Coupons.com and print them off. Her site not only says what you can buy, but where the coupons are--including links to printable or downloadable ones.
Also remember this. Most supermarkets will have their best sales on the first week of the month to coincide with Social Security checks.

Bummer, but that's just the way it has to be for now.

(32,680 posts)The ridiculous profits they make are on things like sunglasses, greeting cards, toiletries, etc. However CVS's drug prices are probably in line with the other American retailers though. If they weren't, the insurance companies wouldn't allow prescriptions to be filled by CVS.
