A few days after a gunman police say was inspired by white nationalism killed 22 people in El Paso, Donnie Bolena a 54-year-old Republican candidate hoping to challenge Rep. Lucy McBath (D-Ga.), who is black denounced the shooting but also said on Facebook that he considers himself a white nationalist. The backlash was swift to that Aug. 8 post, he said, with the Georgia Republican Party asking him to leave the primary, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
In response, Bolena has bowed out of the race but he remains defiant about his statement.
I said I was a proud white nationalist, he said in a 22-minute Facebook video on Saturday. Due to the shootings in Dayton, Ohio, and El Paso, Texas, I was very aggravated and very mad at the way the liberal media comes after conservatives. It comes after our Second Amendment ...
