NBC News poll: 40% of voters say they'll "definitely" or "probably" vote for Trump, 52% for Dems

Kyle Griffin
@kylegriffin1

NBC News poll: 40% of voters say they'll "definitely" or "probably" vote for Trump.

52% say they will "definitely" or "probably" vote for the Democratic candidate.

Of note: Trump's approval in this poll is 43% so even some who approve of him ostensibly won't vote for him.

They don't say how large the sample is. That is important. the larger the sample, the smaller CTyankee Aug 2019 #8

regular voters

Here it's adults

So there's an issue of how many will actually be eligible to vote on election day and an issue of what fraction of those will actually vote

What reasons are available?

(R) to the core, would vote for anyone (R), literally anyone hypothesis now upgraded to theory?

Fox News viewer and doesn't watch any other NEWS.

Active consumer of Right Wing news.

Lives with a consumer of right wing news, loves that person, and hears everything that gets them riled, and it effects them too.

Fan of "The Apprentice".

People who believe their Republican representation in congress and actively participating is optional.

Family has always been Republican & everyone they know is, so they just go with it and don't pay it that much attention, politicians are slimy everyone knows THAT!

A very nuanced list could go on and on, but that's a fair start?

10% being flat out stupid, I mean white sheet or grab this pussy t-shirt wearing in public dumb troglodyte quality stupid people who have no regard for safety when their precious opinion is checked or called out, you'd think someone shot their momma; that kind of stupid.

Well, I am a classical musician, retired but playing in community orchestras.

So all of my life has been associating with musicians, dancers, artists, weavers, potters, painters, etc. Creative people of all types-- republicans and conservatives tend very much to NOT be creative.. with the occasional exception, It requires deep inner searching. Conservatives have no idea what that means...

So-- I rarely ever have had such acquaintances-- I just have NEVER hung with that type....

Not in person, by phone, by email or by snail-mail.

That's why I could never understand (or trust, frankly) these polls.

If these are phone polls, it is probably mostly people with land lines picking up, which means older people.

Most people with cell phones, myself included, do not answer calls from random numbers, and pollsters do not leave messages. I don't trust these numbers at all. I really think Trump's numbers are much lower.
