My mom used to come up with some pretty wild stuff when she was in that phase.

Impressive Mission Impossible style flashing lights, sounds, seven segment displays, keyboards, and switches that do absolutely nothing.

if he's in cognitive decline, then those who know him should stop him from doing what he's doing. I suspect that this is all a game, though. He only cares about people talking about him. Crazy posts are all a part of that.

I have no doubt he is suffering from significant and increasing cognitive decline. Which doesn't preclude him being a complete asshole.

Sundowning is a symptom of Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. It's also known as “late-day confusion.” If someone you care for has dementia, their

confusion and agitation may get worse in the late afternoon and evening.

A person has to work really hard just to function as normal. So when they wake up they are better rested and can manage a bit better.

But think about it, if you had to start each day and then work your butt off to remember basic things, names, events. My Mother and MiL both followed the same pattern, early on they got really good at faking things, pretending to keep up with conversations, laughing at appropriate times. (they follow queues from others) Again, takes a lot of energy to stay focused.

Then as the person gets tired, they start to make more mistakes, leads to frustration and irritability. I had to spend a lot of time explaining to my wife the concept. You can't take them to big events and make them try to be social. Think about normal anxiety in large social sessions, then imagine you are looking around trying to figure out if person x is a family member, a life long friend, it becomes overwhelming and extremely tiring, thus frustration.

As for tRump, he is just a fucking asshole,

Give him some slack. He’s only had 72 years to develop a sense of humor so he’s still a bit shaky about those things.

Although let’s be honest...it was probably just a staffer tweeting for him to make it seem like he does have a sense of humor.

To which I say...you need to pay your staffers more.
